Watauga Montessori believes in healthy eating and for children to be encouraged to prepare their own meals. Not only will children be shown how to independently prepare their lunch and snack, but they will also learn where food comes from once we begin our school garden. They will tend and harvest the food grown in the garden all while learning about life cycles, the interdependence of plants, animals, and insects, and origins of food. In the older classroom, students will take turns serving each other lunch as we instill grace & courtesy in our daily life. One Friday a month, we will have a Pizza FUNdraiser Lunch Day "Fun Lunch", in which for $5, children will have pizza and a side item (fruit or veggie) and all remaining monies will go towards the school’s fundraiser for facility and classroom improvement.
